The architectural form is rigid, but elegantly modern showcasing a series of wooden boxes perched above the natural slope of the earth. It was important that the material finishes exhibited natural textures and patterns to counter balance the straight lines and facets. Wide, white oak boards clad the walls, ceilings, floors and casework with soft cathedral patterning, creamy-beige limestone lines countertops with an ample of amount of natural fossils and veining, and plaster walls provide a soft visual texture. A collection of delicate, curving, mobile pendant lights are used in the main living areas along with rounded upholstery and geometric tables to provide some whimsy and play within the minimal palette. Emily led the interior design of Overlook House while at Hacker Architects.

The upper floor acts as a gallery showcasing the client's vintage furniture and Danish peppermill collection with views connecting to the living room below.
